I wish Word Press had a system where good domain names that are not used are freed up after a certain time.
Jonathon Swift located Lilliput on some islands off the coast of South Australia, and based on that as a long term resident of this state, I wish that I did not have such a crappy domain name, whereas lilliput.wordpress.com has not even had an opening post on it.

Thanks to a posting from a student colleague of mine  An Open Resignation from the Australian Labor Party I’ve decided that I should write my political thoughts more consistently, especially the view looking out from Lilliput.

South Australian politicians – even federal Australian politicians seem to think that we are significant players in  the world politic.  The only times Australia made significant positive contributions to world affairs have been when our society and governmental policies reflected the core values of an innocent nation genuinely concerned with peace and a good life for all – an example being the role Australia played in the late 1940s in getting the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights passed.

Since then, especially in the last decades of the twentieth century Australian politics is best described as venal.

So here from the edge of the world I’m going to be telling the story of my cancer journey and how it has brought home to me that politics, like charity, begins at home,  but unlike charity, when political action based on idealism is given to the community everyone can benefit.
